Howard Magee was a basketball player of exceptional talent. He had an uncanny ability to react well under pressure. He was named to the ECAC all-conference team during his senior year as a 6-foot-3 center. In addition, Magee played varsity at Potsdam.
Extremely popular as an undergraduate, Magee was selected “Homecoming King” during his senior year. After graduating in 1967, he coached varsity basketball at Hermon-DeKalb Central for nine years. He then served as an assistant coach at Clarkson before taking over the head coaching job at Saratoga High School from 1979-81.
Magee has been very active in youth programs in the Glens Falls area. For five years, he was president of Glens Falls Little League and has coached youth ice hockey for the past four years. Magee is currently the personnel director of Desormeau Vending in Latham, N.Y., a position he has held for five years.
It is with great pride that Potsdam College inducts Howard Magee into the Sports Hall of Fame.
