A 1988 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Jackie Miller was a four-year member of the Bears swimming & diving team. A recipient of the Maxcy-Molnar Award, Miller was a SUNYAC Champion in both the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.12 as well as the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.42. Those two school records remain unbroken.
After completing her bachelor’s in mathematics and secondary education, Jackie obtained a master’s from SUNY Potsdam in 1993. She has remained active in coaching, officiating and swimming competitions. While serving as a long-term substitute, Miller was the girls varsity swimming coach for St. Lawrence Central from 1989-1991. She was inducted into the St. Lawrence Central Hall of Fame in 1993. Jackie taught math at Romulus Central from 1991 until 1995 before becoming a math and computer science teacher at Penn Yan Academy. In 2000, she joined the Newark Central High School faculty as a math teacher as well as the head varsity coach for the girls and boys swimming teams. She recently completed an internship as an assistant high school principal for Newark.
