Susan Paris Johnson was a pioneer at Potsdam College—she was the first woman contestant in New York State intercollegiate varsity athletic history.

Johnson made history as a member of the Potsdam College golf team in 1964,  a team that compiled a 7-2 record—best in school history. The lone woman on a men’s squad, she also played for the Bears in 1965.

Her golf prowess hasn’t stopped. Johnson has been a club champion in Charlotte, N.C., on several occasions and has twice finished third in the North Carolina State Women’s Amateur Tournament. She is an officer in the North Carolina Women’s Golf Association.

Johnson is a 1965 graduate.

Potsdam College is proud to induct Susan Paris Johnson into its Sports Hall of Fame.
