SUNY Potsdam Academic Coordinators
Each of SUNY Potsdam's 19 intercollegiate sports is assessed at least one academic coordinator, a staff or faculty member designated to assist student-athletes on the given team with time management, scheduling, career development and other key decision making not on the field of play. Often the biggest supporters of the Bears, the academic coordinators are crucial members of each team. Dr. Dave Smith, a psychology professor who currently serves as a men's basketball AC, started the academic coordinator program in 1994. Since then, the Student-Athlete Academic Support Program (SAASP) was formed, and SUNY Potsdam athletes are regularly among the best performing students at the institution.
