Senior midfielder and co-captain Alessio Vitale (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) raced through the New Paltz defense on a nifty open-field feed from freshman defender Chris Schrum (Roosevelt Island, N. Y. /Millenium) for a 2-1 lead that would hold as the Bears defeated the Hawks 3-1 to pick up its first conference win of the season on Friday.

The game-winner was Vitale's fourth goal of the season.
