Athletic Training Room Internships – SUNY Potsdam Athletics
The SUNY Potsdam Athletic Training Room is seeking interns to assist with a variety of operations throughout the semester. Internship hours can be customized to fit each student’s schedule and range from 40–120 hours, depending on program requirements and availability.
1. Administrative Interns (2 positions)
These interns will assist with the day-to-day administrative needs of the Athletic Training Room, including:
- Organizing and filing paperwork
- Maintaining and updating inventory lists
- Supporting general office operations
This position is ideal for students interested in sports management, healthcare administration, or related fields.
2. Game Day / Facility Interns (2–3 positions)
These interns will support the certified athletic training staff (ATCs) during home events and in the training room. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with pre-game setup and post-game breakdown
- Helping manage in-game operations as an assistant to the ATC
- Providing training room coverage when short-staffed or when teams practice off campus
- Ensuring the facility remains open and functional for student-athlete needs
Requirements:
• Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
These positions provide valuable hands-on experience for students pursuing careers in athletic training, sports medicine, or related disciplines.

Athletic Department Event and Fan Engagement Internship

Hours Required: 120 total hours
Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director
Position Overview
The athletic department is seeking motivated and energetic interns to assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of special events and fan engagement initiatives. This internship offers hands-on experience in sports event management, marketing, and community engagement.
Day-to-day responsibilities will vary and may include office work, event planning, promotional activities, and on-site game day support. Flexible scheduling is available, but evening and weekend availability is required. Experience with photography and/or graphic design is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Event Planning and Support – Fall Semester
- Assist with bears high fives program
- Participate in walk to school day
- Support field trip to Maxcy (hockey game)
- Help coordinate leaf raking day
- Assist with the Hall of Fame induction ceremony
Event Planning and Support – Spring Semester
- Support field trip to Maxcy (basketball)
- Assist with Girls and Women in Sports Day
- Help execute Bear Pride Night
- Participate in NCAA D3 Week
- Support the all-sports banquet
Game Day and Fan Engagement Initiatives
- Coordinate and promote Food Trucks & Futbol event
- Organize food & toy drives
- Assist with the Teddy Bear Toss and Chuck-A-Puck promotions
- Provide concessions and operations support
- Participate in appreciation and awareness Games
- Support spring sport special events
Qualifications
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Interest in sports, event planning, or marketing
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Photography and/or graphic design experience is a plus
