On Wednesday, Vander Esch scored two goals and added an assist the Bears playoff game at Buffalo State. He finished his Bears career with 62 goals and 39 assists for 101 points. Vander Esch earned second team All-SUNYAC honors for his efforts and signed a pro contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins affiliate Wheeling Nailers.
