Bears shut down Bengals, 3-0

Box Score
POTSDAM, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team took down Buffalo St. by the final score of 3-0. Freshman forward Eduardo Figueroa added a goal and two assists and junior goalie Joseph Glackin recorded the shutout.

Potsdam (7-5-2, 4-1-1 SUNYAC) would seize control of the match with two first half goals. The Bears would capitalize just over 11 minutes into the match as Figueroa sent a corner kick into the box and junior Victor Colasacco would head it in. The goal was Colassaco's second in as many matches, and both were game-winners. The Bears wasted little time in adding to that lead. Figueroa would score his sixth goal of the season four minutes later and sophomore Alessio Vitale tallied his fifth assist. The half would end with the Bears outshooting Buffalo St. 9-4.

Potsdam would add to its lead in the second half. In the 50th minute, freshman Stephen Auyer (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) added his sixth of the season with Figueroa setting him up. Glackin recorded five saves to keep the Bengals off the scoreboard which is the fourth SUNYAC opponent the Bears have shutout.

“They play a good style but we didn't let them behind us and they couldn't capitalize on some of their opportunities,” said Coach Parker. “We were fortunate that Vic scored early and then we got a goal right after.”

The Bears return to action tomorrow afternoon. Potsdam will celebrate their five seniors as they host the Blue Devils of SUNY Fredonia at 1 p.m.
