PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (3-4-2, 0-0-1 SUNYAC) opened its SUNYAC schedule with a 0-0 tie at Plattsburgh State (7-0-1, 0-0-1). Bears junior goalkeeper Joe Glackin  made eight saves for his first shutout of the season.

The Cardinals outshot Potsdam 29-10 in regulation and 34-11 overall, but Glackin and the Bears defense hung with them throughout the contest. The offensive pressure by Plattsburgh allowed them to generate 17 corner kicks to the Bears' four. Cardinal goalie Andy Heighington finished with three saves, all coming in the second half.

Potsdam Head Coach Adam Parker was very satisfied with his team's showing.

“It's big to get a tie on the road against Plattsburgh,” said Parker. “They are very dangerous, but the guys' effort was tremendous. We competed to the end and finished the job. We have so many new guys this year and I think they're learning that our league is so competitive that you have to show up to play everyday.”

Plattsburgh won the penalty-kick tiebreaker, 5-3, and will clinch a higher seed in the SUNYAC playoffs should the two teams tie in the conference standings.

The Bears are back in action on Friday, Sept. 30, for a SUNYAC battle with Oswego State at 4 p.m.
