Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Nicole Yost, Assistant Sports Information Director

Red Dragons top Bears, 2-0

ONEONTA, N.Y—SUNY Oneonta (4-6-2, 2-2-1 SUNYAC) scored a goal in each period to top the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (5-6-1, 0-4) Friday evening.  The Red Dragons got one goal from Erica Berry and another from Caitlyn LaPier to edge the Bears, 2-0.

Oneonta got on the board in the 19th minute, when Berry fired a shot from the top of the box just out of reach of junior goalkeeper Emily Lapage (Brushton, N.Y./Brushton-Moira). The Red Dragons controlled much of the first half, outshooting Potsdam 12-4.

At the 53:56 mark, Oneonta struck again. LaPier had Lapage one-on-one and managed to sneak by for the second goal of the contest. The Red Dragons continued their pressure throughout remainder of the contest. Lapage kept the Bears in the game, but Potsdam's offense couldn't get going.

Lapage finished with seven saves, while her counterpart Kelley Murphy stopped three for the win.

The Bears look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon when they travel to go up against SUNY New Paltz at 1 p.m.
