SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam Volleyball team (8-22) rallied for a 3-2 victory over Farmingdale State (13-21) before falling to Union College (24-11) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Skidmore Invitational. Senior libero Gabby Arana (Williston Park, N.Y./Herricks)  was named to the all-tournament team.

The Rams had the Bears on the brink with 25-20 and 25-22 wins in the first two sets, but they rallied for three straight victories of 25-18, 28-26 and 15-13. Graduate student outside hitter Annie Smith (Chateauguay, N.Y./Chateauguay) led the Bears offense with nine kills. Senior outside hitter Liza Fields recorded eight kills and seven digs. Freshman outside hitters Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and Katie Agar (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) added seven and five kills, respectively. Arana had a game-high 19 digs and freshman setter Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) posted 30 assists.

In the finale against the Dutchwomen, Potsdam fell 25-14, 25-15 and 25-7. Topf and senior outside hitter Sharon Ofori (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) each had four kills, while Smith chipped in three. Arana added 16 more digs to her total for the day.

The contests marked the close of the careers for Smith, Fields, Arana, Ofori and senior outside hitter Tia Wright (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal).
