Cardinals cruise past Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.- SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-13, 0-7 SUNYAC) falls to SUNY Plattsburgh (7-7, 4-3 SUNYAC) Tuesday night 60-32. Senior guard Carli Reynolds (Indian Lake, N.Y./Indian Lake) led the Bears for the third straight game with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Plattsburgh's Allie Taylor headed the Cardinals with 18 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

Plattsburgh jumped out to an early six-point lead in the first half before Reynolds drained a 3-pointer at 18:20 to get the Bears on the board. The teams continued to battle back-and-forth through most of the half before the Cardinals got out to their biggest lead of 12 with less than nine minutes remaining. Potsdam went on 7-2 run before being capped with a jumper by sophomore forward Patti Dorgler (Floral Park, N.Y/Archbishop Malloy), but Plattsburgh closed out the half with a layup to get their lead back to double digits.

The Bears offense struggled to find their rhythm in the second half, while the Cardinals continued to build on their lead.  Plattsburgh shot 37.5-percent from the field while scoring 31 points in the half to seal their conference win over the Bears.

Sophomore guard Meghan Driscoll (Troy, N.Y./Troy) added seven points and two steals and junior forward Katie LaVoie (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) grabbed eight boards.

The Bears hit the road this weekend to take on College at Brockport Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
