HAMBURG, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (1-7) fell to John Carroll University (8-3) in the consolation game of the Hilbert Hawks Tip-Off Tournament by score of 93-57 on Sunday afternoon. Junior guard Rishawd Hendricks (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mount Zion Christian Academy) led the Bears in scoring with 12 points and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Senior captain Greg Torchon (Spring Valley, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional) contributed 10 points to Potsdam's effort.
 
The Blue Streaks scored the first nine points of the contest and the Bears weren't able to catch up. Carroll shot a scorching 62.5 percent from the floor in the first half, including 10-for-16 from behind the arc. David Linane drained a three at the buzzer and the Blue Streaks led 55-26 at the break.
 
Potsdam opened the final half with two threes from junior guard Joe Estramonte (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) and a jumper from senior captain Zac Adams (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) in an 8-2 Bear run. However, Potsdam was unable to sustain the offensive momentum and Carroll pulled away for the victory.
 
Estramonte and Adams each finished the contest with eight points.
 
Linane recorded a game-high 18 points and was 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Will Starks scored 17 points for the Blue Streaks and Danny Wallack totaled 14 points.
 
The Bears return to the Buffalo area next weekend when they resume SUNYAC play. Potsdam faces Buffalo State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Fredonia at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
