Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Nicole Yost, Assistant Sports Information Director

Lakers escape Bears, 1-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.- Oswego State's (6-4, 1-2) lone goal lifted the Lakers over the SUNY Potsdam woman's soccer team (7-3, 0-2) Friday evening. Alexa Restante scored the goal to lead Oswego to a 1-0 victory.

The Lakers held the advantage in play during the first half. However, senior goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) stayed tough between the posts with four saves to keep the Lakers off the board. Melissa Siegfried, goalie for Oswego, hauled in one save and the score remained unchanged through the first 45 minutes.

At 48:08, the Lakers' offense responded. Restante got her first goal of the season when Nicole Perniciaro chipped the ball to the left side of Thibeau and Restante finished it into the net for the eventual game winner. The Bears fought back creating multiple scoring chances for themselves, but were unable to solve Siegfried. Oswego edged Potsdam in shots 10-7 in the second half.

Thibeau finished with seven saves and Siegfried stopped five.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow when they travel to SUNY Cortland to take on the Red Dragons at 1 p.m.
