CANTON, N.Y.—St. Lawrence University (12-11) defeated the SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (4-13) 3-1 at Burkman Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The teams split the opening two sets, with the Saints taking set one 25-18 and the Bears winning the second set 25-23. However, SLU closed out the match with 25-15 and 25-17 victories in sets three and four.

Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) led Potsdam's offense with nine kills, while sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Tomkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) had eight and junior outside hitter
Stephanie Maddox (Anaheim, Calif./Cornelia Connelly) finished with six. Freshman setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had 27 assists and junior libero
Maddie Paquin (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) totaled 12 digs.
Masha Kolesnikova paced the Saints with 16 kills. Cristina Deschaine recorded six blocks. Katie Kull had a game-high 46 assists and Mariah Dignan contributed 14 digs.
The Bears are back in action on Friday at 5 p.m. when they host the Oneonta Red Dragons to open SUNYAC Pool Play at Maxcy Field House.
