POTSDAM, N.Y.- Clarkson University (1-0) got a goal from Paige Spittler and Lauren Flynn to top the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (0-1) 2-0 on Tuesday night at Hantz Field.
Â
The Golden Knights got their first goal from Spittler at 20:13 after a pass from Nikki Carfi. The Bears were unable to get a shot past Clarkson goalie Anna Demasi in the first half, managing only four shots. Clarkson took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Potsdam outshot the Golden Knights 6-2 in the second half, but still struggled with finding the back of the net. At 68:32, Flynn added an insurance marker after a cross from Madison Kather and Clarkson never looked back.
Â
Bears senior goalie
Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) only made one save in the contest, while Demasi stopped six to earn the shutout.
Â
Potsdam edged the Golden Knights 10-5 in shots and the teams knotted up at two in corner kicks.
