The Bears fell behind in the 33rd minute as Sam Greco finished a feed Ryan Keller. Potsdam got even about four minutes later. Junior forward
Ritchie Hetherington (Falkirk, Scotland/Herkimer County C.C.) knotted the score at 37:25 with an assist from Kellett. The Bears outplayed the Blue Devils in the first half and outshot them 12-9, but entered the break tied 1-1.
The teams alternated shots through the first 13 minutes of the final 45. At 58:22, sophomore defender
John Becker (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) sent a long through ball ahead to Kellett, who buried it to give Potsdam a 2-1 advantage. With 22 minutes to go, Hetherington was given a red card and the Bears played down a man the remainder of the game. However, Potsdam's defense allowed just four shots over the rest of the contest and only one found Mitchell.
Blue Devil goalie Ty Bentham made seven saves. Fredonia edged the Bears 18-17 in shots, but Potsdam finished with a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bears continue their playoff push tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Buffalo State for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Bengals.
