CANTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (13-11) was defeated by Lebanon Valley (17-5) and SUNY Canton (13-12) by matching 3-0 scores at the Canton Invitational on Saturday.
The Dutchwomen took the opener 25-18, 25-10 and 25-19. Junior opposite
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) had five kills, three aces and three blocks to lead the Bears. Sophomore setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) posted five kills, two aces, eight digs and 15 assists. Freshman outside hitter
Gabrielle Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) added four kills, four assists and seven digs. Senior defensive specialist
Whitney Coyle (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) rounded out the leaders with seven digs.
The Roos held off Potsdam 28-26 in set one before taking sets two and three by 25-23 and 25-14 counts. Scott paced the Bears with nine kills, 13 digs and two aces. Junior outside hitter
Kelsea Healis (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) added seven kills, four blocks and two aces. Junior outside hitter
Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) registered seven kills and three blocks. Rodda finished her weekend with 27 more assists and Topf totaled 11 digs. Senior libero
Sloane Campbell (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added 15 assists.
The Bears are back in action next weekend when they head to Fredonia for the season's final three matches of conference play.
