FREDONIA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (13-14, 1-8 SUNYAC) fell to both Oswego State (14-12, 5-3) and the College at Brockport (27-2, 9-0) by 3-0 scores on the final day of SUNYAC Pool Play at Fredonia on Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, the Lakers captured the three sets by 25-11, 25-19 and 25-19 scores. Juniors
Kelsea Healis (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) and
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) paced the Bears offense with six kills each. Sophomore setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) totaled 21 assists and 15 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Gabrielle Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) posted 13 digs and senior libero
Sloane Campbell (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added nine. Junior middle hitter
Megan Smith (Ridgecrest, Calif./Burroughs) chipped in two blocks.
Potsdam battled the Golden Eagles tough through the three sets, but fell 25-17, 25-21 and 25-21. Senior outside hitter
Stephanie Maddox (Anaheim, Calif./Cornelia Connelly) had five kills, while Healis and Scott each added three. Topf recorded five aces and Campbell had a team-high 21 digs. Rodda posted 13 assists and seven digs and Healis finished with six digs.
Next, the Bears host St. Lawrence University at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. Prior to the game, Potsdam will honor seniors
Whitney Coyle (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink Valley), Campbell,
Nikki Wormwood (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) and Maddox.
