PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—SUNY Plattsburgh (13-1-, 7-9 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-22, 0-16) 62-31 on Wednesday night. Freshman guard Secret Clark (Bronx, N.Y./NYC Charter for A.E.C.I) led the Bears with 10 points and four steals. Devona Paul paced the Cardinals with 20 points and eight rebounds and Isabella DePasquale contributed 15 points and seven boards.
 
The Cardinals pulled away after an early challenge by Potsdam in the first quarter, taking a 16-8 lead after 10 minutes. Clark scored six points for the Bears in the opening quarter and junior forward Patti Dorgler (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) chipped in the other bucket.
 
An 8-4 run at the end of the second quarter got Potsdam within 29-16 at the half. Junior guard Meghan Driscoll (Troy, N.Y./Troy) had four points for the Bears during the quarter.
 
Plattsburgh took control of the contest with a 17-0 run to start the third quarter. Freshman guard Janay Smith (Bronx, N.Y./Wings Academy) closed the quarter with a 3-pointer and Cardinals led 46-21 after 30 minutes.
 
Plattsburgh outscored the Bears 16-10 in the fourth quarter. Junior guard Abbey LaPage (North Bangor, N.Y./Franklin Academy) sank two threes and scored eight of Potsdam's points in the quarter.
 
The Bears wrap up the season this weekend when they head to Geneseo and Brockport. Potsdam faces the Blue Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and the Golden Eagles at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
