POTSDAM, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (7-2, 0-1 SUNYAC) fell to SUNY Plattsburgh (5-3, 1-0 SUNYAC) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Field House Complex. Senior forward Anissa Hartmann (Fairfax, Vt./BFA Fairfax) scored twice, while junior midfielder Madeline Saccocio (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) added the additional goal for the Cardinals.
Â
Plattsburgh got the first scoring opportunity just under four minutes into the game, but senior Bear goalie
Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) snagged the ball for the save. Potsdam turned it around at 15:36 when they were awarded a corner kick. Sophomore midfielder
Rylie Murray (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) sent the cross into the box, but fellow sophomore midfielder
Olivia Seamans's (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Bolton) shot was wide of the net. Possession went back and forth the remaining minutes of the game with the score knotted at zero.
Â
The Cardinal's offense wasted no time getting on the board in the second half. Just 26 seconds in, junior midfielder Caitlin Gagen (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa HS) centered a pass that Hartmann netted for the 1-0 lead. Following the goal, Plattsburgh kept Potsdam pinned back in their own zone with eight shots over the next 35 minutes of play to the Bears two. After a called foul on Potsdam inside the box, the Cardinals were awarded a penalty kick. Hartmann grabbed her eighth goal of the season to give Plattsburgh the 2-0 advantage. Five minutes later, Gagen picked up her second assist of the afternoon with a cross into the box that found Saccocio to seal the 3-0 win for the Cardinals.
Â
Thibeau finished with six saves and Plattsburgh sophomore goalie Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport Central School) grabbed one.
Â
The Cardinals outshot the Bears 19-5, but the teams tied with six for corner kick opportunities.

Potsdam will return home to host SUNY Cortland on Friday at 3 p.m. and Oswego State on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Maxcy Turf.Â
