CANTON, N.Y.—SUNY Canton (6-9-2) scored three power-play goals en route to a 4-0 victory over the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (4-9-2) on Friday night at the Roos House. Vili-Jesper Koivula had two goals and two assists to lead the way for the Kangaroos.
Koivula opened the scoring at 6:36 of the first period. Nearly eight minutes later, Canton went on its second power play of the contest. Koivula made the most of it, doubling the score at 13:41. The rest of the period saw six penalties, including four matching minors and the Roos carried the 2-0 lead into the intermission.
The Bears were better in the second period, but couldn't solve Canton goalie Josh Erickson. With 1:48 left in the middle stanza, Joe Vocino added another power-play marker to give the Roos a 3-0 advantage after 40 minutes of play.
Potsdam outshot Canton again in the final 20 minutes, but still couldn't crack Erickson. At 8:22 the Roos went on their fifth man advantage and Josh Sova closed the scoring 33 seconds later. Canton was unable to add to its lead with two power plays in the final 11 minutes and the Bears had one unsuccessful attempt with three to play.

Brendan McMenimen (Merrimac, Mass./Islander Hockey Club) made 31 saves and Erickson finished with 24 for the shutout.
The Bears were 0-for-3 on the power play and the Roos went 3-for-7.
Tomorrow night, Canton invades Maxcy Ice Arena at 7 p.m. to close out the home-and-home series.
