GENESEO, N.Y.—Eighth-ranked SUNY Geneseo (16-6-3, 10-5-1 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (6-17-2, 1-14-1) 8-0 in Saturday night's season finale. Conlan Keenan notched a hat trick for the Ice Knights.
Mitch Ferguson scored the contest's first goal at the 7:59 of the first period and Geneseo led 1-0 after 20 minutes. The Ice Knights broke the game open with four goals in the second period. Pat Condon scored the game's lone power-play goal 22 seconds into the second. Keenan made it 3-0 44 seconds after that. Five minutes later, Andrew Romano added to the lead and Keenan sent the Blue Knights into the second intermission up 5-0 with his second at 16:58.
Geneseo tacked on three more in the third. Trevor Hills scored at 6:40 and 15:52 and Keenan completed his hat trick in between at 10:00.
Bears sophomore goalie
Nate Skidmore (Syracuse, N.Y./Buffalo Jr. Sabres) made 34 saves and allowed seven goals in the first 50:00 and fellow sophomore
Trever Ralph (Middletown, N.J./N.J. Titans) allowed a goal on seven shots in the final 10:00. Matt Leon earned the victory with 20 saves in the first 39:48. Brad Hawayek stopped all 13 shots he faced in the third period.
Potsdam was 0-for-2 on the power play and Geneseo was 1-for-6.
