POTSDAM, N.Y.— Oswego State (4-7, 1-2 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (4-5, 1-2 SUNYAC) 12-4 in the SUNYAC game on Wednesday night. Potsdam senior goalie 
Jack Bezek (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) stopped 18 shots and junior midfielder 
Nick Orsini (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) had two goals.
 
The first nine minutes of the game was a goalie versus goalie battle. Bezek started the contest with three saves, while Oswego goalie Wyatt Russo stopped the first four shots. The Bears were first on the board when senior attackman 
Berkley Stone (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) scored with 6:03 left in the first. Potsdam kept the pressure going with an Orsini goal off a feed from freshman attackman 
Nick Henrie (Massena, N.Y./Massena). Bezek had two more saves, preserving the Bears' 2-0 lead going into the second.
 
The Lakers jumped out quick in the second quarter, as Pat Kenneally scored within a minute. A couple minutes later, Oswego tied up the game at two. Following the pair of goals, Bezek saved the next five shots, and Potsdam regained the lead with a goal from Orsini. The lead did not last long as the Lakers tied the game at 6:41. With 3:31 left in the second, Bobby Emerson scored for Oswego, giving them the lead for the first time. Oswego would end the half scoring three consecutive goals, extending their lead 7-3.
 
Almost three minutes in the second half, Henrie broke the Bears silence with a goal assisted by senior captain 
Matt Moran (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart). After the marker, Bezek kept the Lakers from scoring on their next five shots. With under a minute left in the third, Emerson was able to help Oswego get by Bezek, giving them an 8-4 lead heading into the final quarter.
 
In the first two minutes of the fourth, Kyle Bacon and Emerson scored, increasing the lead 10-4 for the Lakers. At 10:24, Oswego added on to their lead with a man-up goal from Tyler Neason. Bacon put the Lakers' final goal in with 4:36 left.
 
Russo earned the win with 11 saves.
 
On Saturday. Potsdam will honor its 12 seniors prior to the Bears' game against SUNY Geneseo at Maxcy Turf Field at 1 p.m.
