MAHWAH, N.J.- The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (5-4) split on day 1 at the Roadrunner Invitational in Mahwah, N.J. The Bears fell to the host team 0-3 before bouncing back to sweep Mount Saint Mary 3-0.

In the first contest, Potsdam was swept in straight sets, (18-25, 15-25, 21-25). Freshman opposite
Cierra Farnschlader (Palm Bay, Fla./Palm Bay Magnet) led the Bears with seven kills and three blocks, while senior captain
Kelsea Healis (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) had 16 digs and five kills. Junior setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had 23 assists and senior outside hitter
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) had two aces.

The Bears went three sets to take the victory (25-16, 25-17, 25-23) over the Knights. Topf finished with 11 kills, 11 digs and another two aces and senior defensive specialist
Whitney Coyle (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) had a season high 15 digs on the evening. Rodda had another 23 assists, one block and 14 digs, while senior outside hitter
Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) had six kills and seven blocks.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. against Fairleigh Dickinson followed by their contest with St. Joseph's – L.I. at 12 p.m.Â
