CANTON, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (9-8) swept Cazenovia College (3-16) in three straight sets followed by their 3-1 victory over Wells College (11-7) on day two of the SLU Canton Classic.

The closest set was the first with 25-16 score followed by a 25-12 and 25-11 victories for the match over the Wildcats. Freshman middle hitter
Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) led the Bears on attack with 10 kills, while senior captain
Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) tacked on six kills, three aces and 13 digs. Fellow junior captain
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had 28 assists with nine digs and three aces and junior defensive specialist
Maddie Kaplan (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) made 18 digs and added another three aces to Potsdam's total of 15. Senior outside hitter
Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and freshman opposite
Cierra Farnschlader (Palm Bay, Fla./Palm Bay Magnet) combined for seven of the Bears' 10 blocks on the day with Farnschlader with four and Tompkins with three.

Potsdam kept their momentum moving follow into game two of the day with scores of 25-21, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21. Freshman outside hitter
Anika Anderson (Honolulu, Hawaii/Radford) led the Bears offensively with career-highs in kills (17) and aces (5) while totaling nine digs. Tompkins tallied 12 kills, while Mack followed her with eight kills and three blocks. Senior captain
Kelsea Healis (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) and Kaplan were strong in the back court with 18 and 12 digs, respectively. Rodda rounded out the leaders with a season-high 51 assists and five digs.

The Bears will be back in conference play next weekend, when Potsdam heads to Oswego to battle the Lakers at 5 p.m. Friday followed by Fredonia at 12 p.m. and Oneonta at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.Â
