The Bears opened the scoring in the second half, despite a diving effort from Thiam with a header from Ferrer and an assist from Hetherington at the 53:42 minute mark. Potsdam stayed on the attack with four shots with Thiam making another three stops before Canton got on the board at 79:23 following a corner kick from Kyle Smith. At the 86:19 minute mark, Canton was awarded a free kick just outside the box, in front of the goal after a Potsdam foul. Smith took the shot, but it was high with 46 seconds and the clock counting down. Mitchell kicked the ball to midfield where it was picked up by the Bears. Roos' defense pressured Potsdam, but Hetherington picked up the loose ball and fired it toward the net for a last-ditch effort and the ball found the back of the net for the last second game winning goal.
Â
Thiam finished with seven saves in the loss. The Bears held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-2 and in shots, 16-6.
