ONEONTA, N.Y.—Hartwick College (2-1) used a scoring burst midway through the contest to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (1-3) 11-3 on Saturday afternoon. Senior midfielder 
Eric Soderquist (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) registered a goal and an assist on the day to give him 130 career points and move into 10th place on the program's all-time scoring list. Junior goalie 
Zach Sheridan (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had a strong day with a career-high 18 saves.  
 
The Hawks jumped on the board first at the 7:03 mark with a goal from Mike Majchrzak. Potsdam countered with the next two. At 4:34, Soderquist tied the score with an unassisted marker before setting up sophomore midfielder 
Josh Huiatt (Lisbon, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) for a 2-1 lead. David Demand scored twice for Hartwick in a 1:07 span to put the Hawks back in front at 8:01 of the second quarter and ignite a 7-0 run. Justin Curreri added a man-up goal at 6:12 and Hartwick took a 4-2 lead into the break.
 
Sam Ferguson and Chris VanDemark scored in succession at 13:52 and 5:29 of the third quarter. Brett Maguire then took advantage of some Potsdam penalty trouble, netting consecutive man-up goals at 4:26 and 3:15 to give the Hawks an 8-2 advantage. With 36 seconds remaining in the quarter, junior midfielder 
Ryan Waldron (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) set up sophomore midfielder 
Nick Slate (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) to end the run and close the gap to five.
 
Maguire and Demand each netted their third at 8:11 and 5:17 of the final quarter to open up a 10-3 Hartwick lead. Ferguson added a final goal with 58 seconds left to close out the 11-3 win.
 
Hawks goalie C.J. Alesandrini made just six saves on the day. Bears senior faceoff specialist 
Marc Leveroni (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) won nine of his 17 opportunities (.529) and collected a team-high five ground balls.
 
Potsdam is back in action next Saturday when the Bears head to Morrisville for a 3 p.m. contest.
