POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (5-3, 1-1 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (4-5, 1-1) 11-4 on Tuesday afternoon. Junior captain
Cayla O'Connor (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) led the Bears with two goals.
O'Connor got Potsdam going quickly with a free-position goal 1:46 into the contest. However, the Lakers closed the half with five straight. Sophomore attack Montana Garrett (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) tied the game 22 seconds later and senior attack Gemma O'Kane (Memphis, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) scored the next two at 20:16 and 16:53. Junior midfielder Tori Laneve (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) struck at 10:25 and junior midfielder Brigid Regin (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) made it 5-1 with 1:06 left in the half.
Oswego got the first six markers of the second half including two more from Regin at 21:12 and a man-up tally at 16:13. Sophomore midfielder Riley Jaquin (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) scored at 20:16. Garrett netted her second at 13:34 and sophomore midfielder Sami Duncan (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) got on the board at 13:01. O'Kane completed her hat trick with 11:56 to play. Potsdam heads to Buffalo State for a 1 p.m. contest with the Bengals on Saturday.
