POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (4-7) defeated SUNY Canton (8-4) 3-0 on Tuesday night at Maxcy Field House. Senior setter
Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) continued to close in on the 3,000-assist plateau with 245. She now stands at 2,899 for her career.
The Bears took set one 25-17. They then shook off an early challenge by the Kangaroos in set two before seizing the 25-19 win. Potsdam closed out the victory after pulling away from Canton 25-16 in the third set.
Sophomore outside hitter
Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) led the Bears with a career-high 12 kills along with two aces. Fellow sophomore outside hitter
Gabby Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) contributed eight kills, five digs and two blocks. Sophomore middle hitter
Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) totaled seven kills, a game-high three blocks and an assist. Junior libero
Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) added a contest-best 18 digs along with four aces. Rodda also had six digs and senior outside hitter
Rachel Pridell (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) chipped in three blocks.
Junior middle hitter Melissa McMaster (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford-Mendon) led the Roos with a game-high 15 kills along with a block. Junior right side Marissa Ixtlahuac (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) notched 10 kills and sophomore outside hitter Skye Hansen (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) had four kills and a block. Junior libero Jenna Roat (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) recorded 13 digs and four aces. Senior setter Peyton Robinson (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) posted a game-high 33 assists and had nine digs, while senior right side Jenifer Morgan-Aubin (Hartford, N.Y./Hartford) rounded out the leaders with seven digs and an ace.
The Bears are back in action when they host SUNY Geneseo on 5 p.m. Friday to kick off SUNYAC Pool Play.
