POTSDAM, N.Y. --- The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (10-7, 6-4 SUNYAC) defeated SUNY Geneseo (5-11, 2-7 SUNYAC), 84-63 on Friday night. The Bears second half was key for them in the win as they outscored the Knights by 22 after a tightly contested first half. Senior guard
Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Center) scored a season-high 28 points and knocked down a season-high five 3-pointers to lead the Bears. Junior guard
Jayquan Thomas (Hollis, N.Y./Richmond Hill) had 17 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Junior guard
Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) added 14 points and had a season-high with five steals.
Delsol-Lowry opened up the scoring with a three-pointer from the top of the key. Geneseo would then go on to score nine unanswered points, starting with Jack Manke's layup off the bounce pass from Terrance Nichols. The run ended with two free throws from Nichols. Potsdam regained the lead after a three from the corner by sophomore forward
Dante Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) with 9:20 left. The Knights quickly responded with a layup by Alex Merhige. Geneseo then forced a turnover and Zack Panebianco finished around the rim to take back their lead. The two teams exchanged leads for the remainder of the half. Nicholas two free throws gave the Knights a 33-32 lead at half as he ended with 14 points.
The lead changes continued early in the second half. Onabor and Manke each scored for their respective teams. Potsdam was finally able to create separation after going on a 10-2 run ignited by Delsol-Lowry's three, and it was capped off by Onabor's three at the top of the key off the extra pass. Thomas gave the Bears a 10 point lead after his drive and finish with the contact for the and-one at the 11:07 mark. The Bears held their double-digit midway through the quarter. Senior forward

Colby Simpson (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) tied Potsdam's largest lead at 11, with 6:57 to play. The Bears defense limited the Knights chances at a comeback and Onabor's three with under three minutes made it a 14 point game. Onabor hit his fifth shot beyond the arc with seconds left and the Bears came away with the 84-63 win.
Nichols had 24 points to lead Geneseo. Panebianco added 14 points.
The Bears shot 46.6 percent from the floor, while the Knights shot 40.4 percent.
This is Potsdam's first victory over Genseo since February 8, 2013.
The Bears will host Brockport Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Jerry Welsh Gymnasium.
