OSWEGO, N.Y.—Fifth-ranked Oswego State (3-0, 3-0 SUNYAC) scored six goals in the third period to break open a close contest and defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (0-3-1, 0-3-2) 8-1 on Saturday night. Sophomore forward

The Lakers controlled the play in the first period, pressuring Potsdam's defense and sophomore goalie
Michael Paglucca (North Reading, Mass./New Hampshire Avalanche). Paglucca continued his sharp play early, making 12 saves. The aggressive play eventually paid off and Carson Vance made it a 1-0 contest at the 10:52 mark. Colton Fletcher struck at the 17:10 mark and Oswego led 2-0 at the break.
The competition evened out in the second period and the teams traded power plays. The Bears and Lakers each killed two penalties, but Potsdam capitalized on its third power play of the stanza. At the 18:01 mark, Clerc closed the gap to 2-1 on the man advantage with assists from senior assistant captain

Oswego took the wind out of Potsdam's sails with two goals in the first 3:39 of the third period. The first marker came just 11 seconds into the final 20 minutes as Jeff Solow extended the lead back to two. Jody Sullivan made it 4-1 just 2:28 later. The Lakers then put the game away with four goals in a 6:02 span. At 11:16, Tanner Spink scored a shorthanded marker and Joseph Molinaro followed 4:40 later with an even-strength tally. Travis Broughman closed the scoring with two goals just 30 seconds apart.
Paglucca finished with 31 saves in the first 57:17 and freshman goalie
Connor Green (New Port Richey, Fla./Tampa Bay Juniors) stopped both shots he faces in the remainder of the contest for his collegiate debut. Lakers goalie Cedric Hansen made 20 saves for the win.
Potsdam was 1-for-8 on the power play and Oswego was 0-for-3.
The Bears return home next weekend to face Buffalo State on Friday and Fredonia on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
