MANCHESTER, N.H.—Wesleyan University (3-3) scored four goals in the third period to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (1-8-1) 6-2 in the second round of the Saint Anselm Thanksgiving Tournament on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore forward Michael McArthur (St. Thomas, Ontario/Oswego State) and junior forward Joey Sollazzo (Ottawa, Ontario/Navan Grads) each scored for the Bears.
 
The Cardinals struck first at the 7:03 mark as Emmet Powell found the back of the net. The Bears answered with good pressure and made the most of it. Just 2:03 later, McArthur got the equalizer. Potsdam was called for a tripping penalty minutes later, but was able to capitalize anyway. At 11:52, Sollazzo put the Bears in front with a shorthanded marker. Potsdam outshot Wesleyan 10-6 in the first period and took the 2-1 lead into the intermission.
 
The Bears used four power-plays to control the play in the second period, including a two-minute five-on-three man advantage. They outshot the Wesleyan 15-4 in the middle stanza, but it was the Cardinals getting the period's lone goal. Tyler Levine made it 2-2 at 11:11.
 
Potsdam was called for elbowing 3:06 in the third and the Cardinals took advantage. Just 37 seconds later, Spencer Fox gave Wesleyan the lead back on a shot from the right point that beat screened sophomore goalie Ryan Glander (Campbell Hall, N.Y./Rochester Junior Monarchs). At 9:18, Fox weaved his way through the Bears defense and scored again. Cam Peritz made it 5-2 on a wrister from the slot at 11:52. Danny Sorabella added a shorthanded goal at 17:42 after Levine forced a turnover at the blue line.
 
Glander finished with 18 saves, while Tim Sestak stopped 24 shots for the Cardinals. Wesleyan was 1-for-6 on the power play and the Bears were 0-for-6.
 
Potsdam returns to SUNYAC play next weekend with two games at Morrisville State. The Bears face the Mustangs at 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
