GENESEO, N.Y.-- SUNY Geneseo (29-7, 13-3 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam softball team (8-28, 1-17) 12-0 and 6-4 in the last contests of the season Saturday afternoon. Senior captain
Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) went 2-for-4 with a run scored in game two.
In game one, the Knights used an 11-run third inning to lift themselves over the Bears. Geneseo got the game-winning run in the first with a sacrifice fly from Danni Napoli.
In the bottom third the Knights got the bat on the ball and brought in 11 runs on 11 hits. Napoli scored the first run with a double to left. Hannah Elmer got Napoli across home with a single. The Knights scored their fourth run off an error and the fifth off a Taylor Fedor single. Brooke Wolff made it 7-0 singling to left center. Alyssa Persi got an RBI double and Ashlynn Kersc had a two RBI single. Napoli ended the scoring with a two-run home run, giving Geneseo a 12-0 lead.Â
Potsdam could not get anything on the scoreboard and Geneseo took game one 12-0 in five innings.Â
Freshman left fielder
Vanessa Brandt (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) was the only Bear that got a hit game one.Â
Napoli went 2-for-3 with four RBI and scored twice. Fedor went 3-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Persich, Elmer, Kylie Papagelos and Wolff had multiple hits.Â
Junior
Megan Fish (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville North) (3-11) got the loss after pitching three innings, allowing 12 runs (10 earned) on 14 hits and striking out one. Freshman
Sierra Ashley (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) came in to relief throwing for one inning, allowed two hits and struck out one. Taylor Moore (11-2) pitched five innings, allowed one hit and struck out five.Â
The Knights began game two with two runs in the first. Napoli tripled to left center and scored one. Napoli crossed home when Elmer grounded out.Â
Potsdam cut the deficit in half in the second. Fish began the inning working a walk. Freshman designated hitter
Abby Vaughn (Apalachin, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) got on first with a successful bunt. Sophomore catcher
Shelby Van Epps (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) moved Vaughn and Fish to second and third with a sacrifice bunt. Sophomore third baseman
Sydney Miller (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls) brought Fish in with a single to left field.
The Knights got the run back in the bottom half of the second with a double to left field off the bat of Papagelos. Â
The Bears tied the game in the top of the third. Junior captain (Kitchener, Ontario/St. David Catholic) hit a two-out double to left center. Fish scored Condon and herself with a home run to left center.Â
In the fifth, Potsdam took a one-run lead. Falsion and Brandt had back-to-back singles. Condon then came up and hit a single to left center to score Falsion.Â
Geneseo took the lead in the latter half of the fifth. They got the bases loaded early and set up Fedor to tie the game with an RBI single. Jasmine Petrishin then came in to pinch-hit and hit a two RBI single to centerfield to make it a 6-4 lead.Â
The Bears could not get anyone to score in the sixth or seventh and lost game two, 6-4.Â
Condon and Falsion went 2-for-4. Both scored a run and Condon added an RBI. Fish went 1-for-2 with two RBI and scored twice. Miller was 1-for-3 with an RBI.Â
Persich, Napoli and Petrishin all went 2-for-3. Persich had a run scored, Napoli scored twice and had an RBI and Petrishin had a run scored and two RBI.Â

Alissa McCauley (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) (4-10) got the loss after pitching the complete game, allowing six runs (three earned) on nine hits and struck out one. Ashlyn Kersch (11-3) pitched the complete game, allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out seven for the Knights. Â
The contests bring to a close the careers of Falsion and McCauley.Â
Falsion finishes as the all-time leader in runs scored (95), stolen bases (56), games played (138) and games started (138). She is second in triples (10) and hits (128), third in total bases (164), fourth in on base percentage (.387), at-bats (387) and walks (34), fifth in batting average (.331), and eighth in slugging percentage (.424). Â
McCauley finishes as the all-time leader in appearances (84), third in innings pitched (248.1) and wins (11) and fourth in strikeouts (140). She is also eighth in games started (31), ninth in earned run average (5.42) and tenth in complete games (12).Â
