GENESEO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (6-9, 1-1 SUNYAC) captured the first two sets of tonight's SUNYAC match before host SUNY Geneseo (7-7, 2-0) surged back for a 3-2 win. Junior captain
Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) posted season-highs in kills (14) and digs (20) to lead the Bears.
Potsdam downed the Knights 25-21 and 25-20 to open up a 2-0 lead, but Geneseo rallied for 25-18, 25-17 and 15-7 wins to pick up the victory. Freshman outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) totaled nine kills, 10 digs, two aces and a block. Freshman middle hitter
Caitlin Retzlaff (Milton, Fla./Pace) had a career and match-high five blocks. Freshman setter
Kendall Jones (Parker, Colo./Elizabeth) had a match-high 35 assists with four aces and three blocks. Senior captain
Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif/Bell Gardens) registered 20 digs and four assists.
Grace Cergol had 18 kills and six aces for the Knights. Abby May finished with 16 kills, 11 digs, two aces and two blocks. Maddie McLaughlin added 11 kills and Grace Thomas had 30 assists. Sam Mendleson contributed 16 digs and Alexandra Frank had 14.
Potsdam is back in action tomorrow afternoon when the Bears head to Brockport for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Golden Eagles.
