POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (9-3, 4-1 SUNYAC) hit 16 3-pointers, including nine in the second half, to breeze past Plattsburgh State (4-8, 1-4) 98-79 on Tuesday night. Senior captain Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) had a game-high 24 points with 21 coming on seven threes. The Bears never trailed in the contest and opened the first half on a 7-2 run. Freshman center Tyrese Baptiste (Brooklyn, N.Y./Eagle Academy II) put on a show out of the gate with a layup for the first basket of the night and Potsdam's first 3-pointer. He had seven of his nine points and three of his eight rebounds in first four minutes. Cardinals junior guard Travis Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y./Frederick Douglass) scored to close the gap to 9-7, but senior captain Aaron Armstrong (Lisbon, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington), Brown and Baptiste scored in succession to make it a 15-7 lead at 14:54. Plattsburgh would never get within eight points of the lead again. The run continued to 13-0 with a Thomas layup followed by a Brown three and jumper to give Potsdam a commanding 22-7 advantage. The lead hovered between eight and 15 the rest of the half and Joseph sank a three to with 15 seconds left to send the Bears into the break with a 48-33 advantage.

Plattsburgh senior guard Nick DeAngelis (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) opened the second half with a three to make it a 12-point contest. However, the Cardinals would never get any closer and trail by as many as 23 in the second half as Potsdam bombarded them from long distance on 9-of-18 shooting from 3-point range. A 3-pointer from Delsol-Lowry with 5:10 to play gave the Bears their biggest lead of the night at 92-69. Potsdam continued to cruise until it closed out the 19-point win.

Cox led the Cardinals with 21 points along with six rebounds. Freshman guard Axel Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Paltz) finished with 14 points and DeAngelis scored 11 and grabbed six boards.
