POTSDAM, N.Y.—After being deadlocked for 90:38, Clarkson University (5-8-2) struck in over time for a 1-0 victory over the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (6-10-1). Bears sophomore goalkeeper
Chloe Gordon (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) made five saves.
Scoring chances were hard to come by in the first half. The Golden Knights managed six shots, but only two made their way through to Gordon. She handled each attempt. Clarkson freshman keeper Elise Almgren (Lenox, Mass./Millbrook School) was untested as the contested headed in to the break scoreless.
Each team upped the pressure in the second 45 minutes, but quality offensive opportunities were still hard to come by. The Golden Knights' best opportunity of regulation came with just 13 seconds left. Freshman midfielder Emily Davis (Westminster, Md./Westminster) picked up a pass at the right side of the net. She wheeled to her right and fired, but Gordon snatched the ball of out of the air to send the game to overtime.
Just into the extra session, Clarkson junior midfielder Juliette LaRock (West Hartford, N.Y./William H. Hall) sent a long ball into the corner where freshman forward Chloe Hodge (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) picked it up. Hodge fought off a Bear defender and send a cross in front of the net. Sophomore midfielder Tonia Kousmanidis (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) drove the ball into the top of the net to end the contest.
Almgren finished with two saves.
The contest marked the end of the Bears senior class of
