SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (8-14) defeated both Sage Colleges (6-22) (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-14) and Union College (5-19) 3-1 (13-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-19) on final day of the Skidmore Invitational.
In the opener against the Gators, the Bears lost the first set before capturing the match in next three consecutive sets. Junior outside hitter
Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) had a team-high of 14 kills and contributed four aces and 12 digs for the Bears. Sophomore outside hitter
Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) had 12 kills, while junior middle hitter
Emme Price (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) had 10 kills. Junior setter
Alyssa Rogers (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) posted 28 assists and freshman setter
Colleen Murphy (Clifton Park, N.Y/Shenendehowa) had 19 assists. Freshman libero
Marley Hawthorne (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) had 14 digs against the Sage.
In game two, the Bears defeated Union College in 3-1. Again Potsdam fell short the first set but the rallied back to beat the Dutchwomen in the next three straight. Ader had 19 kills and 12 digs. Nikki Ramirez (West Covina, Calif./Bishop Amat) totaled 21 digs during the match.
