PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—Plattsburgh State (6-4-1, 4-2-1 SUNYAC) scored the contest's lone goal in the third period and held on for a 1-0 win over the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (0-8, 0-7) on Friday evening. Senior goalie
Michael Paglucca (North Reading, Mass./New Hampshire) made 25 saves for the Bears.
Scoring chances were few and far between in the first period. The Cardinals outshot the Bears 8-5 in the penalty-free opening 20 minutes.
The middle stanza was just as evenly played with a little more offense. The Bears took 11 shots on Plattsburgh goalie Anthony Del Tufo and Paglucca made nine more stops. The Cardinals went on their first power play of the game at 18:09 of the period, but Potsdam diffused the threat.
The Bears killed two penalties in the third period, but Plattsburgh struck in between them. At 14:27, Thomas Maia buried a feed from Joey Mancuso for the game-winner. Each goaltender made eight more saves in the period.
Del Tufo finished with 24 saves for the shutout. The Cardinals edged Potsdam in shots 26-24.
The Bears now head across Lake Champlain for a nonconference meeting with Saint Michael's College in South Burlington tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
