MORRISVILLE, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (1-2) outscored Morrisville State (1-1) 8-1 in the second half to roll to a 16-5 road victory on Tuesday afternoon. Senior captain
Josh Huiatt (Lisbon, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) had three goals and an assist to lead the Bears. Sophomore midfielder
Peyton Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) also had four points on a goal and three assists. Junior attackman
Ryan Spaman (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg) and junior midfielder
Alex Burley (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) each scored three goals and sophomore goalie
Ben Fuchs (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) made 12 saves for his fourth career win.
The first quarter was a shootout as the teams combined for eight goals. Evan Kistner opened the scoring at 13:43. Huiatt evened the score 1:32 later and junior midfielder

Cam Talcott (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) at 11:26 for the Bears first lead. Chris Picciott and Roman Reiss answered to give the Mustangs a 3-2 lead with 6:12 left in the quarter. Talcott assisted on senior midfielder
Keenan O'Gorman's (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) goal to tie the game at 3:02 on an assist from Talcott. With 40 seconds on the clock, Walsh gave Potsdam the lead for good. Just 18 seconds later Burley struck to made it 5-3 after 15 minutes.
The Bears shutdown Morrisville's offense the rest of the way. A big part of that was Fuchs, who made eight saves in the second quarter alone as his offense pulled away. Walsh set up Huiatt's sixth marker of the season at 13:29 and then did the same for Spaman at 10:57. Zach Nestor answered at 7:45 for the Mustang's only goal of the period, closing the gap to 7-4. With just nine seconds remaining, Huiatt fed Burley for a man-up goal and Potsdam led by four at the half.
The Bears scored the first three goals of the third quarter. Huiatt netted his third at 12:28. Miller set up Burley's third at 5:42 and Walsh assisted on Talcott's second at 4:47. Reiss scored Morrisville's final goal while a man up with 26 seconds left and the Bears were up 11-5 after 45 minutes.
It was all Potsdam in the final quarter as the Bears tacked on five more goals. Spaman scored his second at 11:59 with a helper from junior midfielder
Henry Reber (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua). At 8:26, junior long-stick midfielder
Bryley Frederick (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) buried his first goal as a Bear. Freshman attackman
Cobie Cree (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) played a part in Potsdam's final three markers. He assisted on Spaman's third goal at 2:23, scored his second career goal at 2:04 and then set up sophomore midfielder
Bryce Tyler's (Camden, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) first career goal with 15 seconds left.
Fuch's made his 12 stops in the first 54:11. Freshman goalie
Liam O'Neil (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) stopped the only two shots he faced in the last 5:49. Mustang goalie Dylan LaPlace was sharp, making 24 stops.
The Bears outshot Morrisville 54-26. They edged Morrisville in ground balls, 28-27 and split the faceoffs with 12 apiece.
Senior defender
Dominic Butera (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) and Cree each led the Bears with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Junior faceoff specialist
Brandon Smith (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River) won 11 of his 17 chances in the circle.
