Oneonta defeats Bears on Senior Day

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oneonta State (5-3, 5-3 SUNYAC East) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (3-9, 0-8) 20-6 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore attack Anita Reitano (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) led the Bears with two goals and two assists and freshman midfielder Novaleigh LeGrow (Massena, N.Y./Massena) had two goals and an assist. Senior defender Gabby Hobika (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) scored her first career goal in her final game and junior attack Macy Reid (Orchard Park, N.Y./Park) also scored. Senior goalie Natalie Wasielewski (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) made 14 saves in her first career start.
 
Prior to the game senior captains Alli Stark (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) and Keira Thacker (Oakville, Ontario/T.A. Blakelock) along with Hobika and Wasielewski wski were honored for their Bears careers. Stark finishes with 60 goals and 24 assists for 84 points along with 42 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. She ranks 14th in program history in points and goals and 10th in assists. Thacker had 25 goals and three assists for 28 points and contributed 45 ground balls, 22 draw controls and 29 caused turnovers. Hobika compiled 49 ground balls and ranks 17th in the program with 34 caused turnovers. Wasielewski, who ranks ninth all-time in points for the Bears women's hockey team, matched Potsdam's season-high in saves this afternoon.
 
Wasielewski also had five ground balls for Potsdam while sophomore attack Hannah Stevenson (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) totaled three draw controls and LeGrow had two.
 
Senior attack Lily Avazis (Port Washington, N.Y./Schreiber) led the Red Dragons with a goal and eight assists. Junior attack Tessa Hughes (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) had six goals and senior attack Deirdre Buckley (Merrick, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) contributed three goals and two assists. Sophomore goalie Jennifer Tumino (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) made seven saves for the win.
