Lakers down Bears, 3-0

OSWEGO, N.Y.—Oswego State (11-4-1, 6-1-1 SUNYAC) scored twice in the second period en route to a 3-0 win over the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (1-14, 0-9) on Friday evening. Junior goalie Connor Green (New Port Richey, Fla./Tampa Bay Juniors) made a career-high 46 saves for the Bears.

The Lakers pressured the Bears from the outset. Potsdam withstood the attack early and went on an abbreviated power play at 13:49. However, just six seconds later Travis Broughman scored a shorthanded goal for Oswego. The Lakers outshot the Bears 15-6 in the first period and led 1-0 after 20 minutes.

Potsdam killed another penalty early in the second period, but the Bears were called for elbowing at 11:20. This time Oswego capitalized. After Green made three saves and Oswego hit the post, Rocco Andreacchi found the back of the net at 11:49 to make it 2-0. The Lakers then added an even-strength goal at 18:28 from Alex DiCarlo. Despite strong play from Green, Potsdam was down 3-0 after two periods.

The Bears earned three power plays in the third, couldn't solve Oswego goalie Steven Kozikoski. Green stopped another 16 shots in the last 20 minutes. There was no scoring in the third.

Kozikoski finished with 14 saves for the shutout. Potsdam was 0-for-4 on the man advantage and the Lakers were 1-for-4.
