No. 2 Geneseo roughs up Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Second ranked SUNY Geneseo (17-1-1, 9-0-1 SUNYAC) continued to fire on all cylinders as they defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (2-15, 1-10) 12-2 on Saturday evening.
 
The Knights scored five goals in the first period, two in the second and five more in the third. Geneseo captain Dan Bosio (Brighton, Mich./Kingston Voyageurs) led all scorers with three goals and three assists for six points. Junior defenseman Nicolas Elia (Woodbridge, Ontario/Hawkesbury Hawks) also had a hat trick along with an assist. Sophomore forward Zach Rehbaum (Williamsville, N.Y./Northern Cyclones) scored two goals and assisted on two. Junior forward Bryan Zurowski (West Seneca, N.Y./Brantford 99ers) had two goals and senior assistant captain Henry Cleghorn (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Merritt Centennials) rounded out the leaders with three assists. First-year goalie Adam Harris (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville Blades) made 28 saves for the win.

Senior forward Rob Clerc (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Oswego State) scored the Bears' first goal at 10:31 of the second period. Senior assistant captain Thomas Terranova (Middletown, N.J./Syracuse Stars) assisted on the goal. Terranova then scored on the power play at 11:30 of the third period. Junior forward Nick Alfieri (Buffalo, N.Y./Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and freshman defenseman Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./Utica Junior Comets) picked up the assists. Junior goalie Connor Green (New Port Richey, Fla./Tampa Bay Juniors) started for the Bears, allowing four goals and making 11 saves in the first 13:18. Senior goalie Michael Paglucca (North Reading, Mass./New Hampshire Avalanche) made 34 saves and allowed eight goals in the final 46:42.
 
Potsdam is back in action next Friday when they host Fredonia at 7 p.m.
