GENESEO, N.Y.—SUNY Geneseo (10-4-2, 7-1-1 SUNYAC) scored three second half goals to defeat the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer (7-9-1, 3-5-1) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Bears finished tied for the final playoff spot, but lost the tiebreaker with SUNY Brockport, ending their playoff hopes.
Despite controlling the flow of the game for much of the first half, the Knights were limited to just one shot on goal by Potsdam's stingy defense. Bears junior goalkeeper
Savannah Bowie (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) and Geneseo's Angel Bennett each had a save in the first half.
The Knights ramped up the pressure in the second half, which resulted in four corner kicks. Geneseo finally got on the board at 56:13 on a goal from Mackenzie Griffin. At 65:26, Griffin struck again, this time after a Knights' corner. Liv Raucci closed the scoring at 71:30, making it 3-0.
Bowie finished with two saves. Bennett had just the one in 81:22. Mollie Collins stopped another shot for Geneseo in the last 8:38.
