Bengals trip up Bears, 3-1

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State (10-6, 3-2 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (10-8, 1-5) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Senior outside hitter Mikayla Myers (Gloversville, N.Y./Mayfield) led the Bears with a contest-best 16 kills and a block. Junior outside hitter Sophia Rowny (Glenville, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) contributed nine kills, 10 digs and three aces. and senior captain Jessica Ader (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) added six kills and a career-high 28 a digs.
 
The Bengals took set one 25-20 before Potsdam rallied with a 25-19 set two win. Buffalo State then closed out the match with 25-23 and 25-7 wins in the last two sets. Senior setter Colleen Murphy (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) had 23 assists. Senior outside hitter Abygail Olejnik (Bakersfield, N.Y./Bakersfield) had a personal best 24 digs along with three aces.
 
Eden Harrison paced the Bengals with 14 kills and three blocks. Samantha Coakley registered eight kills, 13 digs and two aces. Angelina Scichilone added seven kills and 10 digs. Karlie Shaffer posted 18 assists and Jenna Hugenschmidt had 21 digs and four aces. Liz Schultheis contributed six blocks and Riley Domin had five aces.
 
The Bears return home for a Friday contest with SUNY Geneseo at 6 p.m.
