CORTLAND, N.Y.—SUNY Cortland (10-10, 6-7 SUNYAC) was rolling from the tipoff and used the quick start to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (9-9, 7-6) 83-56 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore guards
Brian Pod (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) and
Isaac Oduro Jr. each led the Bears with career highs of 16 and 13 points, respectively.
The Red Dragons opened the contest on a 16-0 run and never gave up their momentum. They led 40-20 at the half. Austin Grunder had a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds for Cortland. AJ Lawton scored 17 points and AJ Morales added 12 points. Kareem Lubin and Humberto Cabrera each contributed 11 points.
Cortland outrebounded Potsdam 38-30, while the Bears forced 12 turnovers and only gave up the ball 10 times.
Potsdam looks to rebound on Tuesday night when the Bears host Plattsburgh State at 7:30 p.m.
