Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Golden Eagles rally past Potsdam, 3-1

BROCKPORT, N.Y.— Sophomore forward Peyton Snell (Parishville, N.Y./Parishville-Hopkinton) scored his first collegiate goal to put the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (4-2-2, 0-1-1 SUNYAC) in front but the College at Brockport (4-1-4, 2-0) answered with three for a 3-1 win on Saturday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Lucas Schiel (Bremen, Germany/Colegio Humboldt) made eight saves for the Bears.

The Golden Eagles created and sustained solid pressure in the first half, but Potsdam made the most of its opportunities. At 13:31, Snell struck on a pass from junior forward Anderson Velasquez (Bronx, N.Y./Marble Hill) to put the Bears up 1-0. The lead lasted just under four minutes as Matthew Stefaniw evened the score at 1-1. Schiel made six saves in the first half as the teams entered the break tied.

After more pressure early in the second half, Brockport was able to capitalize. At 64:56, Max Voyer made it a 2-1 contest with an assist from Warren Banks. Stefaniw struck for his second marker at 85:58 to close the scoring.

Golden Eagles goalie Andrew Taylor made one save for the win.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Plattsburgh State at 7 p.m.
