UTICA, N.Y—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (1-3) fell to both Juniata College (4-0) and Nazareth College (6-0) on the final day of the Wildcat Men's Volleyball Invitational at SUNY Poly. Graduate Student outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was named to the all-tournament team.
No. 8 Juniata defeated the Bears 3-0 (11-25, 19-25, 24-26) in the first match of the day. Zimmerman had six kills and five digs, while senior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) posted five kills and two blocks. Graduate Student setter
Cooper Colesante (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) posted 10 assists and five digs against Juniata.
Senior outside hitter Max Cooley (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) had 13 kills, two aces and three blocks to lead the Eagles. Junior middle Luke Hoffman (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) had a match-high of five blocks, six kills, and three aces, while sophomore setter Campbell Gerdeman (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) posted four kills and six digs. Senior Setter Austin Goodsel (Corry, Pa./Fort Leboeuf) posted a match high of 31 assists.
The Bears fell to Nazareth 3-0 (18-25, 13-25, 17-25) in the finale. Zimmerman had a team-high of 12 kills, along with two digs. Colesante had 20 assists and Rogers finished the match with two kills and three digs.
For the Golden Flyers, senior outside hitter Trent Caviness (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North) had 9 kills, three aces, and six digs against the Bears. Junior Setter Owen Wickens (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) posted 24 assists, four aces and eight digs.
The Bears will be on the road Friday January 27, at noon when they head to New Jersey take on the Ramapo College Roadrunners at noon.
