POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (6-16) swept SUNY Canton (5-19) 3-0 on Senior Night in Maxcy Field House. Junior opposite
Alyssa Adams (Jamestown, N.Y./Randolph) led the Bears with 12 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and two aces.
Potsdam dispatched the Kangaroos by 25-13, 25-18 and 25-18 counts. Junior outside hitter
Megan Henry (Candor, N.Y./Candor) had eight kills and eight digs. Senior opposite
Kendall Jones (Parker, Colo./Elizabeth) posted five kills and two aces. Sophomore setter
Sophia Layer (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) contributed 23 assists, seven digs and three aces. Senior middle hitter
Lexi Price (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) added a match-best three aces.
Junior middle blocker Sarah Balcom (Sandy Creek, N.Y./Sandy Creek) led the Roos with eight kills, eight digs and a block. Junior outside hitter Alexis Marshall (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield Legacy) and freshman middle blocker Hannah Lombardi (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) each had five kills and Lombardi added three blocks. Sophomore setter Sammie Frank (Eugene, Ore./Umpqua Community College) finished with 22 assists and two aces. Senior libero Kaylee Clark (Adams, N.Y./Jefferson Community College) rounded out the leaders with nine digs and an ace.
Prior to the game, the Bears honored seniors Jones and Price for their Potsdam careers.
The Bears are back in action at 6 p.m. on Friday, when they host Fredonia.
