Jakia Howard (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) led the Bears with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Bobcats smothered Potsdam defensively in the first quarter. Junior guard
Xy'El Bradford (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) accounted for the Bears' bucket as Bates built a 14-3 lead through 10 minutes.
Potsdam picked up its play in the second quarter, but wasn't able to make up ground as Bates outscored them 14-12 and held 28-15 lead at the break. Junior forward
Jenna Cotter (Johnson City, N.Y./Susquehanna) scored four of the points.
The third quarter was the Bears' best offensively, but they were edged 15-14. Howard scored six points and junior guard
Carley Hill (Essex, Vt./Rice Memorial) hit a three. Bates led 43-29 after three.
The Bobcats put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 15-6 scoring advantage. Bradford, Howard and junior forward
Alivia Latham (Brooklyn, N.Y./John Dewey) had the points for Potsdam.
Cotter finished with six points and eight rebounds and Bradford scored six and grabbed three boards.
Morgan Kennedy had a double-double to lead Bates with 22 points and 10 boards. Elsa Daulerio scored 15 and added 10 rebounds. Sarah Hughes' rounded out the Bobcats leaders with nine points and three rebounds.
The Bears head to Russell Sage College on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. contest with the Gators.
